Aloha to my family and friends.
I am excited to be participating in this year's Paddle for Life to raise money for The Pacific Cancer Foundation. This is a 10-person team outrigger canoe paddle event covering 36 miles from Maui to Lanai and back on October 12 and 13. This year over 25 boats will be participating.
The Pacific Cancer Foundation will use all money raised to provide comprehensive cancer (from diagnosis to survivorship) treatment to residents of Lahaina and rural Maui.
I am paddling to acknowledge my personal 1 year battle with prostate cancer as well as to honor my many close friends battle with various cancers. These friends include a few who are currently guiding me on my cancer journey: Tom, Gay, Wes, Lisa, and Gary-a heartfelt mahalo to you all. And a special aloha to: my dear Uncle Dean Lumbert, a very young Nate Stephens and my close friend/business partner of many years James Simkins who all passed recently after tough battles against the demon cancer.
I am hoping that you will consider a small donation in support of my effort. My goal is $5,000. It is a stretch goal (you know me) and I appreciate any donation that you care to make to help me get there.
Mahalo for your support and I look forward to sharing some pictures of our paddle event when pau.
