Aloha to my family and friends.
I am excited to be participating in this year's Paddle for Life to raise money for The Pacific Cancer Foundation. This is a 12-person team outrigger canoe paddle event covering 36 miles from Maui to Lanai and back on October 12 and 13. This year over 25 boats will be participating.
The Pacific Cancer Foundation will use all money raised to provide comprehensive cancer (from diagnosis to survivorship) treatment to residents of Lahaina and rural Maui.
This is my first year participating in this event. I'm paddling for personal growth and healing. I'm also paddling to revisit a memory... one of me and my grandpa-George Leung camping in Lanai when I was a boy scout. This was three decades ago. We took the ferry over back then and camped out on the beach with my scout troop. I miss him and I really enjoyed learning from him. I look forward to more learning and growing. I have signed up for Paddle for Life because I believe the unity concept of being in an outrigger canoe is symbolic for life's journey; together we all move forward! Together we can heal.
Please consider making a donation to this cause. All the money raised raised by Paddle for Life will be donated to Cancer patients and their families here in Maui, Hawaii. But we’re excited to accept your donations from anywhere in the world!
Mahalo and Aloha
